The student will develop strategies for collaborative work in the arts.

The student will create or recreate artworks individually or collaboratively, discuss the sources(s) for ideas, and defend the artistic choices made.

The student will create or recreate an artistic piece demonstrating use of old and new technologies and compare the process or result.

Develop a group project (mural)

Compare qualities of printmaking (computer, etching, lithography, silk screen, wood block, linoleum, etc.).

The student will develop criteria for evaluating artworks and apply them to a collection of their own work.

The student will use vocabulary that encompasses structural, technical, analytical, and aesthetic aspects when discussing and analyzing arts forms and/or processes.

Analyze a piece of art speculating about how and why it began.

Analyze structural and technical aspects in some detail using external resources as appropriate.



Describe the meaning or feeling expressed. Support the interpretation with evidence from the piece.

GOAL IV: Nature and Meaning of the Arts: Valuing the Arts

Student Objective

Content/Suggested Activities

The student will explore reasons why subjects and ideas are re-interpreted through the arts in different cultures.

The student will recognize point of view as a physical, psychological, and/or cultural position.

The student will interview someone in an arts related field and research the field to discover the influence of the arts in society.

Investigate how communities interact and coexist.

Compare student review of an event or exhibit with those of local professional critics.

Discuss what collaboration is needed for the design of a theater or of a theater production, a shopping mall, or a recreation center.
