The Social Studies Course of Study has been written as a partial fulfillment of the requirements of Section 3313.60 of the Ohio Revised Code. In accordance with the guidelines put forth by the Ohio Department of Education, this Social Studies Course of Study is the official document which prescribes the (Prekindergarten-12) social studies content that is to be taught in the Darke County Local School system. The county-wide (Prekindergarten-12) Course of Study is to provide a structured framework which will give an on-going direction to the social studies offerings of the Darke County Local School Districts.

The county-wide (Prekindergarten-12) Social Studies Course of Study is to be used by teachers as they develop their lesson plans and prepare to teach. The county-wide (Prekindergarten-12) Social Studies Course of Study should also be of benefit to administrators, parents, and the general public.
