If you are a teacher lucky enough to have, or will have, FirstClass accounts for your students, this session is for you!
Topics to be covered in this half-day training will be:
• determining permissions for your students
• pitfalls to avoid when sending messages to students
• organizing your virtual classroom
• strategies for using FirstClass to enhance instruction
• ideas to engage students in Web 2.0 technologies using FirstClass

• Using Your Interactive WhiteBoard to Engage Students
Description:
Regardless of what whiteboard solution you have access to, this workshop will focus on how to use interactive whiteboard technology to engage students. We will explore what added dimensions using an interactive whiteboard can bring to your lessons. We will also cover other topics such as what the research says, where to find pre-made lessons, advantages of recording whiteboard lessons and more!

• iPod Touch: Podcasting and Apps
(Cost: $200 for participants from schools in the Darke County Professional Development Collaborative; $250 for all others)
Description:
In this session participants will explore ways to use the iPod Touch in the educational setting. The the workshop fee covers registration and cost of an iPod Touch for each participant. The iPod Touch is a relatively inexpensive technology that schools might choose to make accessible to students. We will focus on how teachers can use this device to engage students. We will also create podcasts, search for podcasts that support classroom content and download free educational apps.

• FirstClass Web Publishing, day 1 (Beginners/Refresher)
Description:
Every FirstClass user has the capability of creating a website. The great part is that if you know how to create a message in FirstClass, you can create a web page:) At the end of the workshop you will have a fully functioning class website online for students, parents, etc. to access on the Internet. This presents unlimited potential for communicating to students, providing online classroom material and resources and implementing Web 2.0 technologies without having to purchase and/or learn a new application. For maximum benefit, bring information and materials that you would like to include on your website.

Description:
This workshop will focus on more advanced web publishing features for creating online content for student access. Participants will create online lessons and podcasts to post to their existing websites to advance Web 2.0 technologies and promote continuity of learning.
Pre-requisite: Must have attended a beginning web publishing workshop and/or have an existing FirstClass website.
