Internet Safety


It's all about awareness.  Educators need to be aware of what students are accessing at school.  Students need to be aware of what is appropriate and responsible use of the Internet and other online technologies.  Parents need to be aware of what's out there in cyberspace and what their kids are out there doing.  The Darke County ESC, Darke County School Districts and Darke County Sheriff's Department are working together to educate all members of the community on Internet Safety.

Safety Tip:
For 2008, add a resolution to create an entry in your cell phone contacts for ICE - In Case of Emergency.  Then take this resolution one step further and make sure every member of your family does the same :)
If you were injured and unable to respond to questions, how would emergency personnel find out your name, address, who to contact, medical history, allergies, etc?  Along with carrying traditional forms of identification, such as a driver's license, ICE could help speed the task of reaching family or other interested parties and acquiring vital information.
Contrary to some circulating reports, adding an ICE entry to your mobile phone does not trigger additional text messaging charges or phone viruses.
